DIY Lipbalm

How to Make Your Own Lip-Balm

I recently found out that you could make lipstick out of beeswax and crayons. But, the majority of kids I know can't wear lipstick or other makeup. So, I came up with my own recipe to make scented, but not colored, lip balm.

Materials

  • Small Microwave-Safe Bowl
  • Some Kind of Container (I used a clear plastic container I got on Amazon a while back)
  • Coconut Oil
  • Beeswax (I used part of an old candle)
  • Vanilla Extract for Scent

Steps

  • Add about the same amount of beeswax and coconut oil. If you want it to be more dense, add less oil.
  • Microwave until you can stir the beeswax and coconut oil. The beeswax does not have to be melted all the way. Make sure when you but the beeswax into the bowl that it isn't all in one big ball so it can melt better
.
  • Remove from the microwave and stir.
  • Add one drop of vanilla extract and put into the container.
  • I put mine into the fridge for about 15 minutes.
You're finished! enjoy your home-made lip balm. :)

DIY Headband

How to Make a Headband

Easy

Here is how to make a super simple headband. Mine took me about ten minutes the second time.
  • The first thing you want to do is measure the size of your head. If you're using stretch fabric (recommended) then measure about an inch less than your head.

  • Cut the fabric out and make it double the width you want it, as you will fold it in half later.
  • Fold the fabric in half long ways. Line it up as best as you can. It doesn't matter if the cuts aren't very neat. You can just sew in front of them like I did.

  • Cut off any excess fabric, but don't cut too close to the thread.
  • Turn the fabric tube inside out so the seam is on the inside.
  • Press the fabric so the seam is on the edge and not the middle.

  • Sew the two ends together about a centimeter away from the end, like pictured below.

  • After sewing, fold the extra centimeter of fabric over the thread, like pictured.

  • Once this is done, add whatever decorations you want, and you're done!

A Little Bit More About Me

A Little Bit More About Me

My name is Ausia, and I am 11 years old. I am in a family of five including me, and  I have two brothers, and the world's craziest dog. No joke. I love arts and crafts and I also sew. I also enjoy playing video games with my brother and watching YouTube like any other kid my age. I also love animals, and my previous pets include four or five hamsters, two gerbils, two guinea pigs and another dog that I barely remember, as we had him when I was very young. I was also in First Lego League for two years, and I had a blast doing it.
I also consider myself pretty smart. I am a member of Mensa and was in PEGS (Program for Exceptionally Gifted Students) since I was in third grade. I transferred schools in the seventh ( I skipped the sixth) and I am no longer a member.
I created this blog so I could share my ideas with the rest of the world. As I stated earlier, I love sewing and making new things out of cardboard and other materials I find around the house. I have been sewing since I was six or seven years old. I also think blogging will be a fun thing to do in my free time.
